I started Estate Sales MN in 2013, but my love of antique and vintage items began much earlier in life. From a young age my father, Steven Race, taught me to appreciate heirlooms and the stories that go with them. He also taught me the value of honesty, trust, and integrity.
My dad grew up in the Crosby/Aitkin area in Minnesota, the fourth of six children born into an extremely poor family. Since the age of 17 my dad has held a full-time job, never shying away from hard work. For several years, he ran his own concrete business on top of working a full-time job. He rarely missed a day of work—I even recall him reporting to work with broken ribs! Those who know my dad say that he “never met an hour of overtime he didn’t like.” As you might imagine, the man who was known as the “Overtime King” instilled a very strong work ethic in his children.
My dad also taught me to be kind to everyone, to never take anything for granted, to take pride in my work, and to be honest and sincere in everything I do. My dad’s valuable life lessons combined with my business skills are what has made Estate Sales MN a success.
“Well done is better than well said.” -Benjamin Franklin
I work to conduct every estate sale with the values my father taught me. I treat every client like a member of my own family, and I treat their possessions with respect and dignity. Having an estate sale can be an emotional process—it’s difficult to sort through a lifetime of accumulation! More often than not, when people come to me they are overwhelmed and unsure of where to start. I love being the one to guide them through the process, and seeing the look of relief on their faces when I tell them I can help is what makes my work meaningful to me.
My goal is to make every estate sale a positive experience for the client, the customers, and my team. I am thankful to my dad for instilling a tremendous work ethic in me and teaching me to do everything with dignity and honor.
